The Hispanic Community is the fastest growing population in Northern Pinellas County. The Hispanic Outreach Center works with other agencies, individuals and businesses to provide services to this growing community.

Family Advocate:

Provides support to families through counseling, advocacy, referral, education and positive parenting classes.

Youth Specialist:

Provides services to families where youth are at risk of school failure.

Behavioral Health Counselor:

Suncoast Center provides onsite mental health services.

 Hispanic Leadership Council:

Devoted to expansion of needed services and community outreach to enhance integration of immigrant population.

Learn With Your Child:

Preschool program offered once a week to moms and their children in preparation for kindergarten.

 Hispanic Liaison Officer:

The Clearwater Police Department has a bilingual officer available at the HOC to assist in answering questions and resolving problems.


Spanish interpreters are available for HOC clients.

Gabe Cazares Memorial Scholarship Fund

This scholarship was established by the Intercultural Advocacy Institute and the Hispanic Leadership Council to honor the memory of Gabe Cazares, the first and only Hispanic Mayor and County Commissioner in Pinellas County. Recipients must possess a minimum GPA of 2.5 and have a demonstrated financial need. Preference will be given to students of Hispanic ethnicity. Recipients must acknowledge the award in order to ensure continued Foundation scholarship eligibility.

Youth Leaders Partnership:

Students focus on college or university plans and serving as a role model in the Hispanic community with the support of their parents.

Educational Forums:

In cooperation with other organizations, free seminars are offered in bilingual format. Topics include: crime prevention, health/nutrition, housing and negotiating “Life in the U.S.”

Legal Seminars:

In collaboration with Immigration Law Group of Florida and the Clearwater Bar Association, legal workshops are held at the HOC in Spanish. The participants are provided the opportunity to speak with an attorney free of charge with the assistance of an interpreter.

Make a Difference Day:

Some families in our community are in dire need of food. By participating you will be helping alleviate the struggle for families facing a significant shortage of food.  A free community health fair offered every October.

VITA Site:

Provides free tax preparation from January to April in collaboration with Pinellas Prosperity Partnership.


English Classes:

English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) is designed for adults whose first language is not English and who need to develop skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing. Progressive levels of grammar structure, reading, writing, listening, speaking and life-skills are taught to help the non-English speaker adjust to American life.

Embracing Our Changing Community Conference

An annual conference promoting cultural competence and recognizing diversity held on the last Friday of July.
